From Real Aloud and Voice Typing to Dark Mode and Text Recognition – Kami helps make learning accessible and engaging for all. In this video, you’ll learn how to:
For any subject and grade level, Kami has tools that level out the playing field to make learning accessible to all learners. Let’s start with this middle school biology class where students are instructed to read and write summary notes from a passage about sloths. Here the teacher has uploaded a scanned document as a learning material. To mark up the text they have run the OCR tool, which allows Kami to recognise scan text. Now it can be marked up and interacted with using all Kami tools. Unfamiliar words can be tackled using the Dictionary tool. Here, students can click or highlight on any particular word in the text to look up its definition. When it comes to reading the text itself, some students may find it better to take in information by having it read to them.
Hanging lazily from tree branches yet the sloth…
The advanced controls let you go back to the previous sentence, skip to the next one, and loop sentences. Play and Stop buttons are there for general control, and by clicking Read Page, Kami will read the entire page from start to finish.
… and break lasting year round.
You also have the option to change the speed of the speech and change the voice. To create notes that demonstrate and convey their reading comprehension. Students can use any of the Comment tools with Text, Voice, Video, and Screen Capture comments. With Text comments, students can click the Microphone icon to enable voice typing. For more elaborate text comments, the same voice typing feature can be found within the Rich Text Editor. Simply click the Microphone icon to begin. voice comments are another great option to leave verbal notes to share their thinking.

Let’s turn it over now to a 2nd grade student who is revising their skills and sign language. In this case, they’re revising how to signal different members of this family unit. Though they’ve already answered the prompts using text boxes, they’ve also supported the answers with Video Comments, which is particularly helpful for visual learners or classes that require an interactive learning environment.
For users who are sensitive to screen glare, Kami’s dark mode feature can help reduce digital eyestrain that can occur from blue light exposure on devices. Simply go to Settings, Theme, then select dark to enable this feature.
